About Us

Amy Wagenfeld, PhD, OTR/L, HTR, CAPS*, has over 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist and is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, registered horticultural therapist, and certified master gardener. She is Owner of (www.thethymelygardener.com), a unique organization committed to blending principles of universal design with innovative strategies and solutions to provide a personalized approach to lifelong sustainable, usable, and equitable aging and being in place garden and green space design and practices for all adults and children.

Amy's interests in gardening include universal, sustainable, and healthcare garden design, sensory gardens, children's gardens, as well as herbal cosmetic and tea garden design and related craft activities.

In addition to her work with The Thymely Gardener, Amy is also a member of the American Horticultural Therapy Association’s Research Team and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Lasell College in Newton, MA. Amy is the author of three books, a CD, and numerous journal articles. She is also a regular contributing author to the Government of Queensland Australia's Smart and Sustainable Homes e-newsletter.
